The Buffalo Bills have been rather fortunate through training camp and preseason with not having to deal with many serious injuries to key players. The most notable injury was an elbow injury suffered by starting safety Jordan Poyer.

The former All-Pro suffered the injury at the beginning of August and was not able to play in any preseason games or practice since. However, that changed on Saturday as Poyer was back on the field participating in practice with a non-contact jersey, according to WGR550’s Sal Capaccio.

As you can see in the video he is still wearing a brace on his elbow but this is a great sign and a big step in the right direction. The Buffalo Bills are set to play their first regular season game in less than two weeks when they travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams in the season opener.

While there is still time before the regular season, it seems unlikely the team will have Tre’Davious White. He is still on the PUP list as he works his way back from his ACL injury suffered last year.

This means the Bills are going to be very inexperienced on the outside at cornerback with Dane Jackson and either Kaiir Elam or Christian Benford starting. This is not ideal for a group that will be tasked with trying to slow down Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ wide receivers led by Cooper Kupp.

However, the experience of Poyer and Hyde at safety should certainly help these cornerbacks and having a leader back like Poyer is going to be a huge boost for this defense.
